Sonisphere 2013 cancelled
The 2012 festival at Knebworth – which Queen, Kiss and Faith No More were all due to play – was cancelled because of a challenging year and concerns over the quality of the festival they’d be able to put on.
In a statement today the people behind Sonisphere UK explained that similar issues are behind the decision not to hold the event in 2013 either.
…
“We think it is really important that the event only runs when it has a line up that sets it apart from the competition whilst also carrying a ticket price that allows us to offer real value for money to the music fans,” it reads.
“We were hoping to do that in 2013 but unfortunately it wasn’t possible to fulfil both aims with the principle problem of there being a lack of available headliners of the calibre of previous festivals at Knebworth.”
They go on to explain that they’d approached a number of artists but couldn’t secure the line-up they wanted.
Apparently they’re already working on the 2014 event.
