The World Premiere of GAMBIT

 The red carpet was quite literally a work of art last night as a line up of A-List stars turned out at The World Premiere   of GAMBIT.

The crowd had the chance to get into character, as comedy glasses as worn by Firth’s character in the film and cow girl hats similar to the one worn by Diaz’s character were handed out for the fans to wear as they waited for the stars to arrive.

 

The screening was introduced by broadcasterEdith Bowman. The event was also attended by comedian Jimmy Carr, comedienneRonni Ancona, actresses Kelsey Beth Crossley, Olympic medalist Kerri-Anna Payne, singersAnthony Costa, Simon Webbe and Jamelia. The after party took place at Massimo Restaurant & Oyster Bar at Corinthia Hotel London where the guests were treated to a selection of delicious canapés: Cornet of goosnaugh smoked chicken, curried coleslaw with chives; Baby asparagus tart with beenleigh blue cheese; Millefeuille of lock var smoked salmon; Tomato, mozzarella and basil caprese; Mini fish and chips with tartar sauce; Monmouthshire pork and apple sausage roll, mustard sauce; Risotto beignet, Jerusalem artichoke and parsley and Peppered lamb with mint yoghurt.

 

Drinks served included a special Gambit cocktail created by the expert mixologist team at Bassoon, Corinthia London’s chic cocktail bar. The cocktail is made with eucalyptus-infused gin blended with orange bitters, wormwood bitters and acacia honey. ‘Gambit’ will be on the cocktail menu for a limited period for hotel guests and visitors to try.

 

For the first time, the action on the red carpet was captured by an artist who was painting live on canvas as the stars arrived. The painting was later signed by the film’s stars and will be auctioned off to raise money for Children in Need.

 

Private art curator Harry Deane (Firth) devises a finely-crafted scheme to con England’s richest man and avid art collector, Lionel Shabandar,(Rickman) into purchasing a fake Monet painting. In order to bait his buyer, he recruits a Texas rodeo queen (Diaz) to cross the pond and pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII.
