An animal lover and keen conservationist, Pam had a sneak peak of the eight lodges nestled at the heart of the Zoo which give visitors a once-in-a-lifetime chance to sleep surrounded by wild animals and spectacular scenery – look one way and you’ll see a herd of white rhinos, look the other and you’ll take in the breathtaking views across the Chiltern Downs.Lookout Lodge gives visitors a chance to experience the magic of the zoo at night and includes an evening tour led by one of the Zoo’s experienced keepers who will give visitors a unique insight into what they do as they introduce some of Whipsnade’s 2,500 animals. The tour is followed by a mouth-watering barbecue opposite the tiger enclosure, a torchlit walk back to the lodges to check which animals are still awake and to search the skies for bats, followed by hot chocolate and marshmallows before bed time. The next day, after awaking to the sounds of the wild and enjoying breakfast, a morning tour of the Zoo takes place to see the animals waking up before everyone else arrives.Pam, who presented three series of the television show Whipsnade and is This Morning’s new animal expert, will be meeting some of  the Zoo’s animals on Wednesday after launching Lookout Lodge, including meerkats Ringo, George and Paul, and the Zoo’s new baby bongo, Grace.
