February will see the UK
release of the latest single from 26-year-old, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and Internet phenomenon
, Kina Grannis.
The single “In Your Arms
” is accompanied by a one-of-a-kind music video that has already proved to be a major hit with US
audiences. The video was shot entirely using stop motion animation and constructed using more than a quarter-million Jelly Belly
jelly beans. More specifically, “In Your Arms” was made from 288,000 Jelly Belly jelly beans, spread throughout 2,460 frames, filmed across 1,357 hours and, as the final frame of the video suggests, also included exactly one Kina Grannis.
To date, the video has had over 4.3 million views
on YouTube and has led to recent appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show
, VH1, and E! News
and an upcoming appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
in the US. The video was added across all MTV networks in the US.
Kina already has a worldwide fan base. Her official YouTube channel
has nearly a half-million subscribers and over 80 million cumulative views. The video for her first single “The One You Say Goodnight To” debuted at #2 on MTV.com, trailing only Beyonce.
It all started in 2007 when Kina joined YouTube, made a music video and entered herself into a contest. A few months later, her video for “Message From Your Heart” aired during the Super Bowl and its 97 million viewers (or 194 million eyeballs, depending on how you’re keeping track) and she walked away with a record deal. Since then, Kina has regularly posted her songs on YouTube, amassing many millions of views, and toured throughout North America and Europe.
The single release coincides with a full European tour throughout February. Her last European tour took in 11 dates, all of which were in support of her recently released album Stairwells. The tour dates are below:
